Obama Urges Recognition of Gaza Crisis

During an event in Dublin, Ireland, last Friday, Obama emphasized the need to recognize the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to protect children from hunger. He called on both parties to find a way to ensure the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel, according to American media. These rare statements came after world leaders gathered in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, where the Israeli-Palestinian conflict dominated discussions. However, the former U.S. President added that “the irony lies in the fierce approach of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which endangers all its people to solve the problem, something I also reject.” Since August 2025, Israel has launched a ground incursion into Gaza to take control of the city following intensive bombing, while the United Nations warned of the displacement of about one million Palestinians, with uncertain estimates of 640,000 people having left so far. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is pushing to end the conflict, with American envoys proposing a 21-point peace plan to Arab leaders. U.S. President Donald Trump stressed his rejection of Israel’s annexation of the West Bank, affirming that “he will not allow it.”
