Abdel Aaty’s statements came during the “Maspero Cultural Salon,” which was broadcast on Egypt’s “Extra News” channel on Saturday evening. During the broadcast, he described American military aid as a “symbol and embodiment” of the strategic relationship, not just mere numbers. He stated that “the latest versions issued by the House of Representatives lacked any conditionality for the first time in many years,” referring to the U.S. Congress. He noted that this is an indicator of the strong relationship with the United States, especially the new administration of President Donald Trump.
He pointed out that the Trump administration was instrumental, even before taking responsibility, in the pressure that led to the January 19th agreement in the Gaza Strip, noting that a recurrence of such an event is not unlikely in light of recent developments and statements.
He said, “Trump presents himself as a man of peace, which we count on, and it is very important to encourage this so that he indeed becomes the man of peace who achieves what his predecessors could not, regarding the two-state solution and lifting the historical injustice against the Palestinian people for more than 75 years.”
Abdel Aaty emphasized that “the plan for displacement will not happen, regardless of who wants it or not, at least not through the Egyptian gate.”
It is noted that in February, Trump stated that he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, and in January, the President of East Timor, José Ramos Horta, mentioned he might nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if his efforts result in a peaceful resolution to conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip. In early July, the Israeli Prime Minister informed Trump that he had formally sent a letter to the Nobel Prize Committee endorsing the American president’s nomination for the prestigious award. In June, the Pakistani government announced its nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026 in appreciation of his “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” during the recent escalation between Pakistan and India.
