The ministry stated in a post on the Turkish platform ‘In Social’ that ‘passport crossing procedures have begun at the border crossings between Syria and Turkey, in line with the normalization process initiated with the new regime in Syria since December 8th.’

Last Monday, it was announced that Syrian expatriates are allowed to cross the border with Turkey without prior permission. The authority explained in a statement published on social media that ‘the Turkish authorities issued a memorandum containing the rules governing the entry and exit procedures for Syrian citizens holding residence permits outside Turkey, in addition to Syrians who have acquired the nationality of a third country through the joint border crossings (Kasab, Bab al-Hawa, Hammam, Salama, Al-Rai, Jarabulus).’

Syrians who are adults and hold a Syrian passport, even if it is expired, along with the passport of the second nationality, are permitted. Additionally, children of expatriate Syrians under 18 who hold the nationality of another country and do not possess a Syrian passport are allowed to enter with their foreign passport.

The authority mentioned that everyone can enter with their private vehicles through the crossing, according to the specified fees, while adhering to the allowed residence period inside Syria. It is worth noting the good relations established with the new regime that came to power after the departure of the former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on December 8th.
