ADIB Reports Record Profits, Eyes Digital Growth

On Wednesday, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) reported a record-breaking performance for the first nine months of 2025, with a pre-tax net profit of Dh6.1 billion, up 16% year-on-year. The bank’s third-quarter performance continued this trend, posting a 14% increase in net profit after tax to Dh1.83 billion.

ADIB’s return on equity (ROE) hit an industry-leading 30%, underscoring its strategic focus on capital optimization and diversified growth. Revenues rose 14% to Dh9.1 billion, driven by robust growth in both funded and non-funded income.

Chairman Jawaan Awaidah Al Khaili credited the results to the bank’s comprehensive operational strength. “We experienced another period of strong performance, with every business line excelling due to increased client activity and greater demand for financing,” he stated. “The steady growth in both funded and non-funded income highlights the strength of our diversified revenue streams and effective cross-sell initiatives.”

Group CEO Mohamed Abdelbary emphasized the bank’s strategic execution and digital transformation as key factors. “ADIB continues to show strong momentum, delivering consistent performance improvements and returns each quarter,” he noted. “Our capability to manage the balance sheet effectively, expand our franchise, and seize market opportunities has resulted in another robust set of third-quarter results, setting a new high for the first nine months with a 30% ROE.”

Funded income increased 13% to Dh5.5 billion, supported by a 21% rise in average earning assets and higher financing volumes. Non-funded income grew 17% to Dh3.6 billion, driven by a 33% increase in investment income and an 18% rise in fees and commissions. Non-funded income now accounts for 40% of operating income, up from 39% the previous year.

ADIB’s cost-to-income ratio improved to 28.3%, down 81 basis points year-on-year, reflecting enhanced productivity and disciplined expense management. Operating expenses rose 11% to Dh2.6 billion due to ongoing investments in talent, digital platforms, and technology.

The bank’s asset quality improved, with the non-performing asset ratio falling to 3.3%—its lowest since 2016. Provision coverage (including collaterals) increased to 170.2%, while impairments rose 14% to Dh511 million. The cost of risk remained stable at 0.46%.

ADIB’s balance sheet saw substantial growth, with total assets reaching Dh270 billion, up 21% year-on-year. Customer financing grew 26% to Dh175 billion, and deposits climbed 23% to Dh222 billion, with CASA deposits making up 65% of the total.

The bank’s capital position remains robust, with a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 13.00% and a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 16.65%, both exceeding regulatory requirements. Shareholders’ equity rose 13% to Dh30.5 billion.

As part of its Vision 2035, ADIB aims to become the world’s most innovative Islamic bank, prioritizing digital excellence, customer-focused solutions, and sustainability. The bank onboarded 225,000 new customers in the first nine months of 2025, with 75% joining through digital channels.
