Al-Fakhouri Discusses Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Al-Fakhouri stated during an intervention on radio “”: “The statements we hear amidst the Israeli war on Gaza require genuine and effective positions to hold Israel accountable.” He noted that “the statement is a correct indicator of the direction needed to resolve the conflict in Gaza and Palestine.” He believes that “Israel seeks to occupy all of Palestine, not just certain parts,” pointing out that “all settlement operations have not yielded tangible results.” He added: “There is a real foundation to translate Lavrov’s statements on the ground for a two-state solution in line with many international resolutions calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state.” Al-Fakhouri explained that “the prisoner exchange happening today is an actual translation of Hamas and Al-Qassam Brigades’ commitment to releasing hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners.” He revealed “the main clauses that Hamas agreed upon in the agreement, which are: the release of prisoners, relinquishing governance in the Gaza Strip, while regarding disarmament, they emphasized that it is a Palestinian matter, and a unified internal stance is required on this point,” asserting “Hamas’ readiness to hand over its weapons only if a Palestinian state is established.” He believes that “if the Sharm El-Sheikh summit does not present practical steps and a permanent solution through ending the occupation and establishing a Palestinian state, it will remain like others within the framework of meetings and gatherings.” Al-Fakhouri added that “the Israeli army spokesman is trying to promote that there is an agreement to accept Trump’s plan in all its details, which is not true,” considering that “Israel is attempting to create additional justifications to evade the agreement and justify any upcoming breach in the sector under the pretext that Hamas did not comply with the agreement.” Regarding the American promises and guarantees ensuring the implementation of the agreement, he said: “These guarantees are not enough, and we do not trust promises but rather tangible facts on the ground.”
