Barzinji stated in remarks to ‘Sputnik’ on the sidelines of the fifth forum of the Union of Russian and Arab University Presidents in Cairo that ‘Al-Kitab University seeks to sign cooperation agreements with a number of Russian universities. The aim is to expand partnership fields in research, postgraduate studies, workshops, and academic courses, in addition to working on ‘twinning’ programs, which allow Iraqi students to obtain dual degrees from Iraq and Russia.’
He explained that ‘the anticipated cooperation agreement will open opportunities for students and professors to obtain academic fellowships at Russian universities,’ noting that this path represents ‘one of the most important objectives of joint cooperation’ between the universities in both countries.
Professor Dr. Iyad Barzinji added that ‘enhancing university cooperation can contribute to expanding the scope of partnership between Russia and Arab countries,’ pointing out that ‘Russian universities are considered an important destination that Iraqi and Arab academic institutions seek to build advanced relations with.’
Barzinji expressed his hope that the fifth forum for academic cooperation will lead to the signing of new memorandums of understanding that enhance this path.
