The vigil witnessed the participation of several children who portrayed, through a series of scenes, the suffering of the people in the sector. They expressed the images of killings that affected children and journalists and the hunger striking the people. The scenes also included depictions of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine, in an attempt to simulate the tragic reality the Palestinian people face daily.
In the same context, Saniya Azzam, an activist in Palestinian national affairs, said: “Nearly two years after the genocidal war waged by Israel in Palestine, we have come today amidst the silence of the whole world that boasts about human rights and the rights of children and women. We have seen that this world knows nothing of humanity.”
She continued: “We have come to embody the famine that Gaza suffers from, which Israel practices after exhausting all types of weapons and resorting to the weapon of hunger. The bodies of Gaza’s people are vanishing from hunger and thirst without anyone moving, so we came to make this deaf world hear Gaza’s suffering, after the occupation killed children, education, universities, mothers, and fathers, and wants to leave nothing and destroy Gaza. We say: We stand with you, steadfast Gaza.”
Sawsan Abdel Halim, an educational supervisor, said: “We feel pain in our souls from within, and we want to express our solidarity with the people of Gaza. This vigil is the least we can do for them, and a sincere expression that we are with them and against Arab, foreign, and international negligence.”
She continued: “We are pleased that they recognized the famine in Gaza and the war crimes being committed, but we urge them not to apply double standards. Aid must enter Gaza by force.”
Several participating children also sent written and recorded messages to their peers in the Gaza Strip, wishing them safety and security, expressing their hope that the suffering will end soon.
