Enhancements are currently being made on Al Thanya Street, a vital link connecting Sheikh Zayed Road with Al Wasl Road, as announced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday.
Scheduled to wrap up by early September, the improvements include upgrading the roundabout on the service road of Sheikh Zayed Road that leads to Al Thanya Street. The RTA is also building a signalised intersection at the meeting point of Street 10 and Al Thanya Street. Pedestrian safety will be boosted with new walkways and traffic signals.
Al Thanya Street is a major thoroughfare in Dubai, handling significant traffic due to its connections with Jumeirah, Al Wasl, Umm Suqeim, Umm Al Sheif, and Al Manara.

According to the RTA, these enhancements will streamline traffic flow, strengthen the connection between internal and main road networks, and boost safety for visitors, ultimately improving the quality of life for local residents.
The works aim to ensure “smooth traffic flow” from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Thanya Street. Additionally, the new junction at Street 10 is expected to ease travel for residents between Umm Al Sheif and Al Manara by shortening travel distances.
