Germany on Tuesday criticized Israel’s ground assault on Gaza City as “completely wrong,” urging instead for talks towards a ceasefire and a hostage release deal.
“The renewed offensive towards Gaza City is… the completely wrong path,” said Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. “We reject this and have made this clear to the Israeli government.”
The EU plans to further sanctions following Israel’s launch of a ground offensive in Gaza.
Israel has commenced the main part of the Gaza City ground operation, according to a military official.
