Graham Gold: Energizing Dance Floors Worldwide

As music evolves, Graham adapts his style to energize any dance floor.

After working for 15 years at London’s leading radio station Kiss FM, Peach, an incredible club night that ran in London for 13 years, continues to thrive in Ayia Napa and is now in Dubai for the third time. With new residencies this year at top club nights like Slinky (UK) and Manga Rosa (Brazil), one must appreciate and respect this true legend.

Kate, the owner and promoter of Peach through Still Moving Event Management and Promotions, spoke with me on Monday when they arrived in town and arranged a time for an interview.

Having known Graham from the early days of my clubbing experiences and listening to his Friday night show on Kiss, this was a wonderful opportunity to discover why Graham continues to dominate dance floors.

Peach started at Legends in London in ’93, with Kiss FM featuring Graham as the frontman. “The concept was simple: For the people, By the people, with the best new music possible. It was a time when house was unified, before genres; Peach defied genres and then it evolved.”

Weekly, the club thrilled partygoers, hosting 1,800 true ravers under one roof with only resident DJs.

Original residents Graham Gold, Dave Lambert, Darren Pearce, and Craig Dimech crafted a unique club experience over eight hours, starting with vocal house, progressing to tribal sounds, breakbeat, then trance, and by 6 AM, moving into hard house and dirty techno. Dutch trance gained popularity, making Graham friends with European DJs like Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and Ferry Corsten. “I introduced these guys; Peach was their first UK club.” Such a successful club night constantly moving to larger venues, Peach transitioned to Cafe de Paris, had a brief stint at Leisure Lounge before finding its home at Camden Palace. There are no words to describe that place! When you think of Peach, you think of Gold! Graham Gold played Peach @ Zinc on Tuesday.
