Qatar Airways has appointed Hamad al-Khater as the group’s chief executive officer, effective December 7, replacing Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, as announced on Sunday.

Al-Meer was named the carrier’s CEO in October 2023, taking over from Akbar Al Baker, one of the airline industry’s most prominent figures, who retired after nearly three decades at the helm.

Khater previously served as the chief operating officer at Hamad International Airport and held various positions at Qatar’s state-oil company, QatarEnergy.
