The UAE will soon have its first hospital-based vertiport where air taxis will take off and land. This announcement was made today by Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Archer Aviation Inc.
The vertiport will enable passengers to travel from Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi to nearby locations in just minutes, significantly reducing travel times compared to traditional ground transportation.
These journeys will cater to both non-emergency passenger use cases and time-critical organ transport. The existing helipad will be converted by Archer to accommodate both traditional helicopter and eVTOL aircraft operations.
The company announced it would deploy Midnight, Archer’s electric aircraft designed to carry up to four passengers, producing less noise and emissions than a traditional helicopter. It will utilize the planned passenger carrying cabin configuration for both purposes.
