Moscow – Sputnik. As of 7:45 PM, the total number of arrests within the police operation reached 140 people. Out of these, 105 arrests were made in the carnival area itself, while 35 arrests occurred at the carnival entrances as a result of proactive police interventions. Earlier, British police reported the arrest of 100 individuals before the carnival began. In August 2024, the Telegraph reported the deaths of two people – a British citizen and a Swede – who succumbed to their injuries after being stabbed during the Caribbean Carnival held in Notting Hill, London. Additionally, six other people were injured during the celebrations, and the total number of arrests during the festivities reached 349 according to London police, with 72 individuals detained for possessing bladed weapons. The annual Caribbean Carnival has been held on the last Monday of August and the preceding Sunday in Notting Hill, London, since 1966. Initially intended to unify the multi-ethnic community and end racial conflicts, the carnival is now often associated with issues such as crime, drug use, piles of garbage, and elevated noise levels that disturb local residents.
