In this annual ceremony organized by ‘France Football’ magazine since 1956, the best players of the past season are honored. A select group of stars, most notably the young Lamine Yamal from Barcelona and Ousmane Dembélé from Paris Saint-Germain, are competing for the award this year. The Ballon d’Or award is based on three main criteria to determine the winner: individual performance and influential personality, team performance and record during the season, and the player’s level and sense of fair play. Each participating journalist ranks the top 10 players according to their opinion, awarding points to each player as follows: 1st place: 15 points, 2nd place: 12 points, 3rd place: 10 points, 4th place: 8 points, 5th place: 7 points, 6th place: 5 points, 7th place: 4 points, 8th place: 3 points, 9th place: 2 points, 10th place: 1 point.
