In a post on his account on the “X” platform, Barak stated, “We urge all parties in Syria to maintain calm and resolve disputes through dialogue,” emphasizing that “diplomacy is the best path.” In July, Barak explained that in the Syrian province of Sweida, there is “an unbelievable amount of concern, pain, sympathy, and assistance,” stressing that “the Syrian government must be held accountable.”
Simultaneously, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced yesterday, Sunday, that what it described as “gangs in Sweida” attacked in several areas, noting that attacks on internal security forces in the province resulted in the death and injury of several of its members.
On July 19, the Syrian presidency called on all parties, without exception, to “fully commit to this decision and immediately cease all combat actions in all areas, ensuring the protection of civilians and securing the delivery of humanitarian aid without any obstacles.”
Meanwhile, in Sweida, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yisrael Katz promised in a joint statement to “prevent any harm to the Druze in Syria, based on the deep fraternal alliance with the Druze in Israel.”
