The remains of Bipin Joshi, a 25-year-old student from Nepal, abducted by Hamas during the October 7 assault, were released on Monday amid a hostage exchange between Hamas and Israel.
A total of four bodies were repatriated.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry described Joshi as an agriculture student, aspiring scientist, and amateur rapper. They confirmed the body was “returning home for a proper burial.”

Media reports identify the other three bodies as those of Guy Illouz, Yossi Sharabi, and Daniel Perez.
Joshi, who was 22 when the attack occurred, was part of a Nepalese agricultural training group that had arrived in Israel three weeks prior to the Hamas assault, AFP noted.
He was taken from Kibbutz Alumim and was seen taking cover with Thai workers shortly before the militants arrived.
“It is believed he was killed in captivity during the initial months of the conflict,” stated the Israeli military.
Joshi’s Nepalese friend, Himanchal Kattel, the sole survivor from their group, told AFP that the assailants threw a grenade into their shelter, which Joshi caught and threw away before it detonated, saving Kattel’s life.
Palestinian militants are still holding the remains of 24 hostages, expected to be returned under the ceasefire agreement terms.
