A statement by Grossi published on the official website of the International Agency read: “Today, another local ceasefire, mediated by the International Atomic Energy Agency, came into effect in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, paving the way for repairs aimed at enhancing the plant’s connection to the electrical grid and preventing a nuclear incident.” He explained that the overall safety and security situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant remains unstable.

In October, after 30 days of complete external power outage, the plant resumed its electricity supply to meet its needs via the external Dniprovska power line with a voltage of 750 kilovolts, which was damaged in a Ukrainian air raid and was disconnected on September 23, following the shutdown of the backup Veroslavnaya-1 line on May 7.

The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the city of Enerhodar. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity, comprising six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt each.
