The ‘Al Wahda Info’ website reported, citing a diplomatic memo, that Chad has decided to close its embassy in Tel Aviv for financial reasons, and the bilateral relations will be managed from Chad’s embassy in Abu Dhabi.

It is noted that the President of Chad, Mahamat Déby, inaugurated his country’s embassy in Tel Aviv in February 2023, five years after the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Chad had cut ties in 1972 before deciding to normalize them again in 2018 following a visit by the late President Idriss Déby to occupied Jerusalem, where he was received by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
