The couple Lindsay (35 years old) and Tim Pearce (34 years old) were blessed with their son, Thaddeus Daniel Pearce, last Saturday. Lindsay told “MIT Technology Review” that the experience felt “like a science fiction movie.”
The couple, Lindsay and Tim Pearce, tried to conceive for 7 years before deciding to adopt an embryo, which was initially created by Linda Archerd (62 years old) using artificial insemination in 1994. Archerd gave birth to 4 embryos at that time; one became her daughter, who is now 30 years old, while the other three were frozen.
After her divorce, Linda Archerd refused to dispose of the embryos or donate them for research purposes and insisted on selecting the family that would adopt them herself. She continued to pay thousands of dollars annually to store the embryos until she found “Nightlight Christian Adoptions,” an agency that runs the “Snowflakes Embryo Adoption Program.”
This program allows donors the right to choose the adoptive family, including religious, racial, and gender preferences. Linda Archerd selected a Christian Caucasian couple living in America because she did not want to send the embryo abroad.
The “Regius Fertility Clinic” in Tennessee, where the insemination was carried out, confirmed its commitment to implanting any embryo it receives, regardless of its age. As for Linda Archerd, she mentioned that she has not yet met the child in person but already sees similarities between him and her daughter.
