Crescent Enterprises, a diversified business based in the UAE, and MIT Solve, an initiative from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology focused on tech-driven social impact, have announced the first-ever Crescent Enterprises AI for Social Innovation Prize. This award honors four exceptional teams using artificial intelligence to address global challenges.

The prize was revealed during the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week in New York. It offers $100,000 in equity-free funding along with access to MIT Solve’s nine-month Solver support, mentorship, and international networks.

The four winners are:

• I Read Arabic – enhancing Arabic literacy at a large scale through engaging, high-quality digital learning tools.

• Smart Scope® CX – providing affordable, AI-assisted cervical cancer screenings at the point of care.

• Littoral – transforming coastal data into early warning systems and planning tools for climate-resilient coastlines.

• Visilant – making eye screenings more accessible so more people can improve their vision and life quality sooner.

“Technology’s power lies in the impact it creates,” stated Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises. “These AI-driven solutions offer a real chance to address challenges once deemed insurmountable – from literacy and healthcare to climate resilience. Our collaboration with MIT Solve allows visionary entrepreneurs to access the resources necessary to turn groundbreaking ideas into scalable solutions. At Crescent Enterprises, we believe innovation should be inclusive, sustainable, and grounded in real-world advancement.”

“We are excited to collaborate with Crescent Enterprises on the 2025 Crescent Enterprises AI for Social Innovation Prize,” expressed Hala Hanna, Executive Director of MIT Solve. “This funding will create ripple effects in communities globally.”

This announcement follows Crescent Enterprises’ co-hosting of the first MIT Challenge Clinic in Arabic, aimed at opening Solve’s global networks to Arab entrepreneurs and equipping them to scale AI-driven innovations more effectively.

MIT Solve’s 2025 Global Challenges awarded over $1.5 million in prize funding to 31 Solver teams selected from a record 2,900 applicants from 130 countries.
