Eyewitnesses told a French media outlet that they “heard the sounds of drones in the sky over central and southern Khartoum, in addition to the sounds of explosions near the airport, between four and six in the morning local time.” It is noted that Khartoum International Airport has been out of service since the first day of armed clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The war that erupted between the Rapid Support Forces in April 2023 has led to the death of tens of thousands and the displacement of millions. The city of El Fasher, a battleground in Darfur, has been devastated by bombing.
The United Nations estimates that children make up about half of the 260,000 civilians trapped in the city, who have been cut off from almost all external aid.
