Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, announced that the innovative ‘red carpet’ smart tunnel will soon be available to all travelers at Dubai International Airport. This cutting-edge system enables passengers to travel seamlessly without the discomfort of feeling ‘guilty’.
“Many of you might have already used the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Red Carpet Smart Tunnel at DXB, experiencing how effortless it makes your journey,” he shared on LinkedIn.

Griffiths elaborated that the system allows passengers to pass through with ease, utilizing facial recognition technology to ensure a ‘much friendlier’ experience.
“Ideally, this should have been the norm, as it spares you the uneasy feeling of being treated with suspicion, a common experience in traditional airport security,” he added.
Previously, Dubai Airports confirmed the service’s expansion to Terminal 3 for arriving passengers within the next month. The system efficiently processes each passenger in 6 to 14 seconds and can handle up to eight or ten people simultaneously, thanks to real-time biometric data processing.
