A Dubai court has fined an Asian man Dh10,000, suspended his driving license for three months, and banned him for two years from transferring or depositing money on behalf of others without prior approval from the UAE Central Bank and the Ministry of Interior.

The judgment followed a February incident in Al Qusais, where police responded to a report of a vehicle collision. An officer discovered the man’s car had crashed into a beauty center and collided with five parked cars.

The officer noticed the driver behaving unusually, stammering and showing signs of impairment, despite no alcohol odor. He was arrested, and a sample was sent for forensic analysis.

Tests detected methamphetamine, amphetamine, and pregabalin, substances under schedules 5 and 8 of the UAE Federal Law on Combating Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances.

During investigations, the man admitted to driving under the influence and failing to observe traffic conditions adequately.

He also confessed to not maintaining a safe distance, causing the crash into the beauty center wall and damage to other property.

The Dubai Court of Misdemeanours and Violations held him accountable, citing negligence and impaired driving as the accident’s direct cause. The court’s verdict, which included the fine, financial transaction ban, and license suspension, emphasizes Dubai’s strict stance against drug-impaired driving and its risks to public safety.
