Dubai Police apprehended a young man for igniting a public street with a highly flammable substance during his birthday celebration, announced the authority on Friday (December 12).
As per Brigadier Juma bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, this act blatantly violates traffic laws and represents reckless behavior that endangers lives and property.
The stunt, aimed at gaining online followers and boosting social media fame, jeopardized not only his life but also the safety of the community and road users. Setting a public street on fire exposes drivers and pedestrians to danger, disrupts traffic, creates confusion, and harms road infrastructure and the environment.

Using public roads for hazardous stunts or filming for social media is entirely unacceptable and poses serious risks to road users, noted bin Suwaidan.
After the video circulated on social media, Dubai Police enforcement teams monitored it, promptly identifying the young man and the vehicle involved. Legal actions were taken, the vehicle was impounded, and the individual was fined for the violations and damages caused.
The authority reminded the public that such offenses could result in a fine of up to Dh2,000, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for up to 60 days.
Dubai Police urged parents to supervise their children, educate them on the dangers of imitating risky online content, and remind them that pursuing likes and views does not justify endangering lives or breaking the law.
