Dubai Police Rescue Driver from Cruise Control Malfunction

Dubai Police successfully rescued a driver whose cruise control malfunctioned while driving on Emirates Road towards Abu Dhabi. Traffic patrols swiftly responded to the report, averting a potential accident.

Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, explained that the driver couldn’t regulate the car’s speed as the cruise control was stuck, rendering the accelerator and brakes ineffective.

Patrols reached the location and officers guided the driver via phone, escorting the vehicle until she safely pulled over.

“The patrols established a safety corridor around the car, clearing traffic to prevent any collisions,” stated Bin Suwaidan. “Their coordination enabled the driver to safely stop on the roadside.”

He advised drivers to remain calm, buckle up, activate hazard lights, and call 999 for help in such situations. Drivers should attempt shifting to neutral, turning off and restarting the engine, or applying consistent brake pressure until the vehicle halts.

Bin Suwaidan stressed the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly of the braking and cruise control systems, and highlighted that awareness and calm decision-making are crucial for preventing accidents.
