On Friday, Dubai Police reiterated their caution to drivers about the perils of speeding, urging them to drive responsibly to ensure road safety.
Authorities highlighted that excessive speed reduces reaction time and amplifies crash severity, posing a risk to the driver and other road users.
In a social media post, Dubai Police shared a video compilation showcasing several instances of vehicles speeding on highway left lanes, underlining how such reckless behavior can lead to dangerous incidents.

Although the left lane is typically for faster vehicles, police stressed that this doesn’t excuse speeding. “A moment of recklessness can cost lives,” authorities wrote on X, emphasizing that safety should always be prioritized, regardless of the lane or traffic conditions.
Residents are reminded that they can report traffic violations through the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police app, allowing the community to actively promote road safety.
Strict penalties for traffic violations
The UAE enforces stringent rules to ensure safety for residents and tourists, including severe fines for speeding.
Drivers in Dubai can face fines up to Dh2,000 and 12 black points for speeding. For a complete list of traffic fines in Dubai, see our detailed guide.
Both Abu Dhabi and Dubai impose a hefty Dh50,000 fine for reckless driving, while Ras Al Khaimah implements a penalty of up to Dh20,000 and a three-month vehicle impoundment. Unpaid fines and unclaimed impounded vehicles in Ras Al Khaimah are auctioned after three months.
These rigorous measures aim to improve road safety and discourage reckless driving in the UAE.
