On November 3, the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) announced a recall of the Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler (Yadom) from UAE markets. This decision followed a statement indicating microbial contamination in several batches distributed locally, as confirmed by laboratory tests.
In October, the Thai Food and Drug Administration had already recalled a batch of this popular inhaler, citing failure to meet microbial contamination standards.

The FDA’s advisory mentioned that Batch ‘000332’ of ‘Herbal Inhaler Formula 2’ did not meet microbial standards. Hong Thai, the manufacturing company, responded promptly, affirming that “customer safety is [their] top priority” and acknowledged the issue.
Following the alert from Thailand, the EDE conducted rigorous tests on all available batches in the local market. These tests revealed contamination levels exceeding international pharmacopeial limits for inhalation products.
The EDE warned that such contamination levels could pose health risks, leading to the withdrawal of all product batches from circulation, not just the ones flagged by Thai authorities.
“The recall is being executed in coordination with municipalities and regulatory bodies to ensure the product’s removal from all sales points, including online,” stated the EDE.
The public is advised to cease using the product and safely dispose of any remaining units.
