Efforts to End Gaza War Intensify with New Proposal

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Majid Al-Ansari, confirmed in a statement via the “X” platform that the minister’s joining comes at a critical stage of consultations. This reflects the mediators’ commitment to working on ending the destructive war, as the Qatari delegation continued its participation in meetings over the past days to support this goal.

Egypt, Qatar, and the United States are mediating to end the war in Gaza, which will enter its second year tomorrow, leaving behind massive human and material losses. The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt welcomed the steps taken in response to US President Donald Trump’s proposal aimed at ending the war in Gaza, releasing all detainees alive and deceased, ceasing fire, and immediately commencing negotiations to agree on implementation mechanisms.

Trump, accompanied by his special envoy Steve Witkoff, presented a new plan aiming to end the war in the Gaza Strip and outline governance after “eliminating” the Hamas movement. This was during a meeting with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries on the sidelines of the General Assembly meetings. Observers indicate that the plan is based on ideas discussed in recent months, with updates developed by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, and Tony Blair, the former British Prime Minister.

From October 7, 2023, until now, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of more than 67,000 Palestinians, in addition to over 169,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
