The Egyptian Cabinet, in a statement during its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, approved allowing holders of the five-year visa to stay in the country for 180 days on each visit. Additionally, they can apply for a tourist residence card upon arrival. These facilities enable five-year visa holders to easily engage with various state institutions throughout the extended stay period, enhancing Egypt’s appeal as a tourist and investment destination.
In May, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy stated that Egypt is currently experiencing an unprecedented surge in indicators, with a 25% growth in the number of tourists during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Additionally, there has been a 40% increase in hotel occupancy rates, reflecting the recovery and prosperity of the sector.
In 2024, Egypt’s tourism sector witnessed a remarkable leap, with revenues rising to $15.3 billion, marking a 9% increase compared to the previous year, while the number of tourists reached 15.7 million, reflecting a growth rate of about 5%. Experts believe that measures taken over the past period, in collaboration between the private and government sectors, along with many other factors, have bolstered this growth.
