The Public Prosecution explained in a statement on social media that investigations resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects. Some of them were found in possession of narcotics and an unlicensed firearm, in addition to electronic devices used to manage social media accounts broadcasting content with indecent language and expressions, aimed at attracting views and achieving illicit profits.
The statement added that the prosecution decided to detain 8 suspects pending investigation and released two others on bail. Decisions were also issued to freeze their assets and place them on travel ban lists. Investigations and technical examination of the seized devices are ongoing, according to Egypt’s Al-Ahram.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution affirmed that these measures are part of its efforts to protect young people from the negative impacts of the increasing inappropriate content online, emphasizing that it will not tolerate any content that disrupts public decency or threatens the established values in Egyptian society.
