The committee comprises 18 member countries, elected according to the six geographical groups adopted by UNESCO, with each group represented by three countries, as reported by ‘Al-Watan News’. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi was unanimously elected as the chairman of the committee, with the participation of the six member states in the executive office, making him the first Egyptian to hold this prestigious international position. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi emphasized that during Egypt’s presidency of the committee, it will work to enhance the committee’s position, increase international participation, and develop effective partnerships with governments and United Nations organizations, strengthening the role of sports as a driving force for development, peace, and social integration worldwide.
