In turn, President Aoun thanked the member states for their support, reiterating Lebanon’s commitment to implementing international resolutions and calling for the necessary support for the Lebanese army. He noted the ongoing cooperation with UNIFIL forces and coordination with the UN.
Conversely, he pointed out the need for the Israeli side to commit to a ceasefire and withdraw from Lebanese territories, demanding international pressure to achieve this. The Security Council delegation recently arrived at Ain el-Tineh to meet with Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri, and their tour will continue with a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation is expected to later proceed to a field tour in the border areas.
