The reports stated: “An emergency coalition is currently being formed to enhance the financial resilience of the Palestinian Authority to help overcome the unprecedented financial crisis it faces, in light of Israel’s continued withholding of its allocated tax revenues.” According to the stated goal, these countries will allocate 170 million USD to support the stability of the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah.
The goal of the new coalition is to strengthen the financial stability of the Palestinian Authority and ensure its ability to provide essential services and maintain security, which are crucial factors for regional stability and preserving the possibility of a two-state solution.
The office of Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa previously reported that donor countries have promised to provide at least 170 million USD to fund the Authority. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced a contribution of 90 million USD, as reported by official media.
Last Sunday, the United Kingdom officially recognized the State of Palestine, followed by Canada, Australia, and Portugal. Numerous other countries have announced their intentions to recognize the state soon.
