Erdogan Calls for Unity at Turkic States Summit

This was stated during his speech at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, hosted by the Azerbaijani city of Gabala under the slogan ‘Regional Peace and Security.’ Erdogan emphasized the importance of the organization taking a firm stance on conflicts and violations of international law in neighboring areas, noting that ‘many international organizations have lost their effectiveness because they are not based on shared values such as history, culture, and the common destiny that binds Turkic states,’ according to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.

He stressed the need for the organization to become a dynamic entity capable of interacting with international changes and taking unified positions in defense of rights, appreciating the choice of the summit’s slogan which reflects the essence of the current phase.

Erdogan called for enhancing cooperation between member states and other international parties, explaining that the organization should not be insular but should have an open vision that highlights its voice and strength globally. He also appealed for strengthening relations with the Syrian Interim Government, emphasizing that the recent progress made is hopeful for the future, and stressed the importance of joint coordination with them.

Speaking about the South Caucasus, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed his country’s support for efforts to establish peace and stability in the region. Concluding his speech, he described the Israeli government as the biggest threat to regional stability, adding that the recent Israeli attack on Qatar is evidence of the danger posed by the current administration’s policies in Tel Aviv to the security of the entire region.

Earlier in September, Israel launched several raids on a building in a residential area in the Qatari capital Doha, where a delegation was conducting talks on the latest US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to the Qatari Ministry of Interior, one member of the internal security forces was killed, and several security personnel were injured.

According to a statement from the Hamas movement, six people were killed in the Israeli raids on the Qatari capital, including the son of the movement’s leader in the Gaza Strip, Hemam al-Hayya. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that ‘the operation was planned and executed by the Israeli side, which takes full responsibility.’
