Erdogan’s statements came in a message published by the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate on their “X” platform account, on the occasion of the annual celebration of World Human Rights Day on December 10, according to the Anadolu Agency.
He expressed his “regret” over the “continuation of injustices in the occupied Palestinian territories, despite all efforts by the international community.” Erdogan added, “The path to a just and lasting peace in Gaza lies in strengthening the ceasefire we helped achieve and implementing a two-state solution.”
The Turkish president pointed out that “Israel disregards the law and order by violating the ceasefire with attacks that have resulted in the deaths of at least 370 Palestinians since October 11.” He warned of the risks of dragging the region into a new conflict and emphasized “the great importance of intensifying international pressure on Israel to prevent that.”
The agreement came into effect on October 10, 2025, and on the 13th of the same month, U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a declaration to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.
Under the agreement, the movement released 20 individuals who survived the events of October 7, 2023, in exchange for Israel releasing about 2,000 Palestinian detainees from Gaza, including those sentenced to long terms.
