European Recognition of Palestine: A Strategic Move

In statements to ‘Sputnik’, she mentioned that the successive recognition of the State of Palestine by European countries is a strategic and very important step towards maintaining the peace process in the Middle East and the world. She emphasized the importance of this step to break free from the Israeli approval of this approach, which is collapsing due to the criminal policies followed by Israel and its successive governments, reaching the level of genocide and ethnic cleansing in all its dimensions.

The leader in the Fatah movement explained that these steps are an attempt to rescue the international system based on human rights principles, which advocate for the rights of peoples to freedom, independence, and living with dignity, safety, and stability.

German Foreign Minister Johann Vadvol stated today, Thursday, that Israel is suffering from increasing diplomatic isolation due to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli newspaper ‘Yedioth Ahronoth’ mentioned today, Thursday noon, that Vadvol will visit Israel today for a two-day visit, preceded by his statement that Israel has become a ‘minority’ in its stance on the Palestinian issue. He added, ‘The negotiated two-state solution remains the only way that can provide both peoples with a life of peace, security, and dignity.’

Earlier today, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed that his country will recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly in September. Carney said during a press conference, ‘Canada intends to recognize the State of Palestine during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled to be held in September 2025.’ He added, ‘The decision to recognize the State of Palestine was independent of the United States, and the movement of other countries was important,’ noting that ‘Canada makes foreign policy decisions independently, and when we see an opportunity and possibility to influence. The two-state solution has been declining recently.’

Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine before the United Nations General Assembly in September. Macron, in a post on his account on the ‘X’ platform, said, ‘In fulfillment of its historical commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine.’ He added that ‘France will officially announce this before the United Nations General Assembly in September.’

The French president continued, ‘An immediate ceasefire must be reached, and all hostages must be released, with wide-ranging humanitarian aid provided to the residents of Gaza. Hamas must be disarmed, securing the Gaza Strip and rebuilding it.’

President Macron added, ‘A viable Palestinian state must be built, ensuring its sustainability, accepting disarmament, and full recognition, allowing it to contribute to the security of everyone in the Middle East.’
