Starting as a local initiative in 2024, the European Tour Group Sustainability Awards will expand globally in 2025, making a much-awaited comeback in November.

The Awards honor suppliers leading in sustainable practices across the DP World Tour, HotelPlanner Tour, Legends Tour, and G4D Tour. This year, winners will be recognized from Europe, the Middle East, and the Rest of the World.

Applications are open until October 2, 2025, with five categories: Venues, Staging, Operations, Tech & Innovation, and Catering. Eligible projects must have been completed between September 1, 2024, and October 1, 2025.

An expert panel from tournament operations and golf sustainability, including GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation representatives, will evaluate the submissions.

Winners will be revealed on November 12 during a hybrid ceremony at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, where the Race to Dubai champion will also be announced.

The Awards are part of the European Tour Group’s Green Drive sustainability program, aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero carbon by 2040.

Collaborative Effort

Maria Grandinetti-Milton, Director of Sustainability at the European Tour Group, noted: “Organizing a golf tournament is a collaborative effort involving a network of trusted suppliers. Reducing resource use, waste, and emissions requires the entire supply chain to participate.

“These Awards promote innovation, share best practices, and celebrate progress. Our focus on the Middle East in the first year had such positive feedback that we’ve decided to go global in 2025,” she added.

“I look forward to seeing diverse, leading sustainability initiatives submitted,” she concluded.

Jonathan Smith, Executive Director of the GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation, commented: “It’s commendable to see a major sports entity like the European Tour Group so committed to sustainability in operations, championships, partnerships, and beyond.

“These Awards emphasize how suppliers are crucial to event sustainability and how events can showcase innovation and new technology, contributing to sustainable cities and communities.”

Emirates Golf Club, managed by Dubai Golf, won the Venues Award in the inaugural 2024 Awards for its commitment to sustainable practices and innovative environmental initiatives, setting a benchmark for golf and the broader community.
