In a press conference following his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky in Uzhhorod on Friday, Fico stated: “With Russian President Vladimir Putin, we focused on bilateral cooperation. It is true that our positions differ on this matter, but we believe the war will end, and we all believe it will end soon, and that relations with Russia will return to normal.”
Fico said: “We will vote against this European Union resolution. I am sure that many things may change before January 1, 2028, and that the REPowerEU project will not work because it causes significant damage.”
He continued: “We wish to continue cooperation in the energy sector. We are interested in the supply of Russian gas and oil. We are also interested in cooperation in other areas.”
