FIFA President Gianni Infantino held a meeting yesterday, Tuesday, in New York, USA. The meeting included the President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), Alejandro Domínguez, along with the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, and the President of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi, as well as the heads of the football associations of Argentina and Uruguay, to discuss the proposal.
FIFA had previously announced the hosting of three matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, with one match in each country, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup edition, which was hosted by Uruguay in 1930.
It is also noted that FIFA is preparing for the draw ceremony for the tournament hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, featuring 48 teams for the first time in the history of the competition.
