Four Nations Ensure Execution of Trump’s Peace Plan

The ‘Times of Israel’ pointed out that an American official stated that the four countries will ensure the implementation of the agreement based on U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan, which consists of 20 points. The newspaper noted that the summit to be held tomorrow, Monday, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his American counterpart Donald Trump, will include Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey signing the ‘general principles’ to end the war, according to the American official.

More than 20 countries are scheduled to participate in the summit, which will focus on strengthening support for the guaranteeing countries rather than the parties involved, according to the newspaper, which indicated that representatives from Israel, Hamas, and the Palestinian Authority are required to participate. The newspaper noted statements from Hamas and Israel indicating that they will not participate in the summit, while it reported an American official saying that the Palestinian Authority’s request for an invitation has not been answered.

According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the goal of the summit is to end the war that has entered its third year in Gaza and to open a new chapter of peace and stability in the region. In a press interview, senior political bureau member of Hamas, Hussam Badran, confirmed that ‘Hamas will not participate in the signing process,’ noting that the second phase of Trump’s plan involves many complexities and difficulties, requiring negotiations that may be prolonged. He considered the talk about the departure of the movement’s leaders from the Gaza Strip under a proposal included in the plan as ‘nonsense and folly.’

The first phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect last Friday afternoon, resulting from indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel, hosted by the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh last week with mediation by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey, based on a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza. Hamas and Israel signed arrangements for the first phase of it.

Hamas announced that the agreement stipulates ‘ending the war on Gaza, the withdrawal of the occupation, the entry of aid, and the exchange of prisoners,’ calling on the guaranteeing parties to oblige the Israeli government to fully implement the agreement’s entitlements.
