Western media reported that the French President, in a press statement on Tuesday evening, declared that “no attack, annexation attempt, or displacement of Palestinian residents will halt the momentum we have launched with the Saudi Crown Prince, joined by many partners.” Macron added that France and Saudi Arabia will jointly “chair the Two-State Solution Conference in New York on September 22,” criticizing the US decision not to grant visas to Palestinian officials to attend the UN General Assembly this September. The French President commented on this, saying: “It is an unacceptable decision. We call for the reversal of this measure and for allowing Palestinian representation in line with the host agreement.” He added, “The goal is clear: to gather the broadest possible international support, the only way to achieve the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.” On July 24, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would officially recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly meeting this September, stating that he sent a letter pledging to do so to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The final statement issued by the international conference on peaceful settlement and the implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France in New York last July, included taking “concrete and time-bound irreversible steps” to resolve the Palestinian issue. The State of Palestine is recognized by 147 countries, including Russia. In 2024, the United States used its veto power against full Palestinian membership in the United Nations. Since 2024, 10 countries, including Ireland, Norway, Spain, and Armenia, have recognized the State of Palestine. According to the Russian stance, a settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be reached based on the formula approved by the UN Security Council, establishing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
