The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced that on Friday, September 5, Mawaqif public parking and Darb toll gate fees will be waived in honor of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday. Regular fees will resume on Saturday, September 6.

The UAE has declared Friday, September 5, as a public holiday for all government and private sector employees nationwide to celebrate the Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday.

Typically, Mawaqif parking operates under two categories:

  • Premium Parking (white and turquoise zones): Dh3 per hour, with a maximum stay of 4 hours. Chargeable hours are from 8am to midnight.

  • Standard Parking (black and turquoise zones): Dh2 per hour or Dh15 for a full day, with a maximum stay of 24 hours. Chargeable hours are also from 8am to midnight.

Parking is free on Sundays in the Capital and on official public holidays. People of Determination enjoy year-round parking exemptions.

Additionally, drivers will not incur toll gate charges on Friday. Darb toll gates usually charge Dh4 per crossing during peak times: 7am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm. Tolls are similarly free on Sundays and public holidays.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has stated that all public parking will be free on Friday, September 5, 2025, for the Prophet’s Birthday, except for multi-level parking facilities and Al Khail Gate Parking (N.365). This also applies to Parkin managed areas.
