Gaza Conflict: Intense War and Humanitarian Crisis

Katz stated in a statement that “after the political level makes the necessary decisions, the military level, as it has done on all war fronts so far, will implement the policy that is determined professionally,” emphasizing that his mission as Defense Minister is to ensure this, and that is what he will do.

Since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has been experiencing the most intense war in the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, following a large-scale military campaign launched by Israel in response to a surprise attack by the Palestinian Hamas movement on southern Israel.

The war has caused massive destruction in the besieged sector, leading to numerous casualties, most of whom are civilians, amidst a near-total collapse of the healthcare and humanitarian infrastructure.

Under the imposed blockade and blocked land routes, delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents has become a “daunting task,” especially in the northern and central areas of the strip.

International and Arab efforts have intensified, including air-dropping aid, in an attempt to mitigate the worsening humanitarian disaster in the sector, amid warnings of an impending famine and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
