Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that Abdel Aaty, in television statements, said the deployment of police forces and the reconstruction of Gaza will be supervised by the Palestinian Prime Minister, who will participate in the Cairo International Conference for Gaza’s reconstruction after the ceasefire. The Egyptian minister confirmed that the Palestinian Authority will manage Gaza through specialized committees to ensure territorial unity between the two parts of the Palestinian state. He noted that the reconstruction conference will include multiple workshops on security arrangements, development, and reconstruction, asserting the Palestinian Authority’s capability to efficiently manage Gaza.
On the other hand, the Egyptian minister criticized Israeli policy, describing it as “arrogance and dominance,” warning that military expansion in Gaza will not achieve security for Israel. He stressed that Israeli security will only be achieved by respecting Palestinian rights, foremost of which is establishing an independent state. He added that Egypt is exerting intensive efforts on both regional and international levels to stop the war in Gaza, focusing on coordination with Palestinian (including Hamas) and Israeli parties, in addition to Qatar and the United States, to achieve a lasting truce and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
This comes as part of the intense Egyptian and Arab endeavors to contain the crisis and end the worsening humanitarian suffering in the besieged sector. Earlier, several Arab countries, along with the Arab League, condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements on Wednesday, stating they constitute an infringement on the sovereignty of other countries and provoke them, reflecting “expansionist intentions.” The Palestinian presidency denounced the statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the “Greater Israel vision,” considering that “these statements violate international legitimacy decisions and international law, and harm the sovereignty of states and the security and stability of the region.”
