The Iranian news agency “Fars” reported that the “Shahid 161” drone has an operational range of 150 kilometers and a continuous flight time of two hours. It is noted that its flight ceiling reaches 26,000 feet, and it has been designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and combat missions.

Recently, the Iranian ground forces revealed, during a television program, a drone called “Simorgh,” which is characterized by its ability to fly in groups according to the “swarm flight” system. This technique relies on a V-shaped formation, allowing for coordination and mutual coverage between the aircraft, enabling a backup drone to replace the main aircraft immediately upon being hit and continue the mission without interruption.

The operational range of the “Simorgh” drone varies between 5 and 50 kilometers, with the possibility of increasing it depending on the engine type. Its combat payload weighs about 2.5 kilograms, capable of destroying light vehicles, trenches, observation posts, artillery, and similar targets. It is distinguished by its low cost, small size, and the potential for mass production and long-term use, according to “Fars” Iranian news.

The most notable feature of the “Simorgh” drone is its stealth capability and connection to a swarm network comprising an unlimited number of aircraft, granting it the ability to perform complex, multi-layered operations without being detected or intercepted. The unveiling of this drone reflects an advanced step towards enhancing the Iranian ground forces’ capabilities in reconnaissance, attack, and field support, adding an intelligent and effective deterrent element and strengthening Iran’s defense capabilities.
