According to the German newspaper ‘Welt’, Di Masi said during the party conference in Magdeburg: ‘For example, it would be a viable policy to approach Mr. Putin and tell him: “We are also ready to receive gas again and want to link that with a ceasefire in Ukraine.”‘
Russia had previously stated that the West made a grave mistake by refusing to buy hydrocarbons from Russia, as their dependency would increase due to rising prices. Meanwhile, those who refuse to purchase would continue to do so through intermediaries at higher prices and would keep buying Russian oil and gas.
Moscow indicated that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of the sanctions imposed on Russia.
