Residents in the UAE and millions globally are eagerly anticipating the September 7 Blood Moon, a rare total lunar eclipse that will be visible from the Emirates, lasting 1 hour and 22 minutes.
Although the total eclipse phase lasts just over an hour, UAE residents will be able to observe various stages of the eclipse for nearly five and a half hours.
The moon will appear red in the UAE as the Earth aligns directly between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow and earning it the nickname ‘Blood Moon’.
