Guillain-Barré Syndrome is a rare disorder in which the immune system attacks the nerves, potentially leading to weakness, numbness, or paralysis in the body. The ministry explained in its statement on Facebook (Meta’s activities, including the social networks Facebook and Instagram, are banned in Russia as extremist) that there is a serious increase in cases of acute paralysis and the syndrome among children due to repeated infections and severe malnutrition. Tests have also revealed enteroviruses not linked to polio in an environment conducive to the spread of infectious diseases. The ministry warned of worsening health conditions if the shortages of medicines and treatments persist, calling for urgent intervention from international and humanitarian organizations. It emphasized that these deaths are a real warning of the risk of a widespread epidemic outbreak.
The Gaza Strip is facing the worst humanitarian crises, as its residents suffer from severe famine due to an ongoing war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023. Israel has closed all crossings with the strip for months, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, which has led to the spread of famine. From October 7, 2023, to July 2025, the war on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 59,000 Palestinians and approximately 143,000 injuries, according to data from the Ministry of Health in the strip.
