Sheikh Amr bin Ali bin Habrish, the First Deputy of the Governorate and head of the ‘Hadramout Tribes Alliance’ in eastern Yemen, announced on his official account on the ‘X’ platform, this Wednesday evening, that the agreement was signed by Hadramout Governor Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi. The agreement stipulated an ‘immediate cessation of military, security, media, and incitement escalation, while maintaining the truce between the two parties until the mediation committee completes its work and reaches a full agreement between the parties.’ The agreement confirmed the withdrawal of the alliance forces affiliated with bin Habrish to the outer perimeter of the state-owned Yemeni oil production and exploration company ‘Petro Masila,’ with the return of company protection forces to their previous positions and company employees to resume their work in production and exploration. The withdrawal is set to begin at eight in the morning on Thursday. The agreement also included the withdrawal of forces supporting the ‘Hadrami Elite’ to a distance of 3 kilometers from the current sites and prohibited the introduction of any military reinforcements from any party during the implementation period. The ‘Hadramout Tribes Alliance’ expressed in a brief statement its readiness to begin implementing the terms of the agreement signed between the parties based on the agreed execution mechanism. It is noteworthy that the coastal areas of Hadramout in southeastern Yemen are experiencing political tension between the ‘Armed Hadramout Tribes Alliance,’ which calls for self-rule for the governorate, amid growing concerns of the situation worsening in one of the most important oil-rich governorates overlooking the Arabian Sea and bordering Saudi Arabia.
