Hamas and Israel Ceasefire Agreement Updates

Qassem explained in a press statement given today, Monday, that the movement has fully committed to the details of the agreement, especially in the first stage, through the delivery of all living prisoners at once. He pointed out that Hamas is working daily to complete the handover of bodies, despite the significant challenges resulting from the extensive destruction in the sector.

Qassem clarified that the lack of heavy equipment necessary for removing rubble is a major obstacle, which has been communicated to mediators. He affirmed that there is continuous communication with mediators, including the American side, to discuss repeated violations by Israel.

He called on “all parties wishing to maintain calm to pressure the occupation to ensure adherence to the implementation of the agreement’s provisions.” Since the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas on October 13, Hamas has handed over the living Israeli prisoners to Israel and a number of bodies, while Israel has released about two thousand Palestinian prisoners and bodies of Palestinian prisoners.

The Israeli war on Gaza, which lasted more than two years, resulted in the killing of over 68,000 Palestinians and the injury of more than 170,000 others, according to official data. Over two years of continuous Israeli war on the sector, the region suffered destruction from the far south to the north, including the destruction of the medical sector, schools, universities, places of worship, infrastructure, and vital resources that support life in the sector. Fifteen vital sectors in Gaza were destroyed, and the attacks left large numbers of civilian Palestinian casualties, both dead and injured.
